The man accused of stabbing his wife to death has had his case postponed to Tuesday 14 March for further bail application.

Mzuvukile Poni (36) from Westlake pleaded guilty to a case of murder.

It is alleged Vuyiseka Poni was stabbed 37 times in full view of the community at her friend's house.

Mzuvukile Poni appeared at the Wynberg Magistrate's Court today (14 February) where he was due to apply for bail.

Progressive Women of Westlake, the Reeva Rebecca Steenkamp Foundation as well as friends and family of the deceased gathered in front of the court opposing bail.

"We don't want him to get bail. What he did just shows he is not fit to be in the community.   If they let him out they would have failed us," said one of the supporters at the court.

The father of three was arrested at his home after the wife was stabbed on 2 January this year.
