A 35-year-old man was shot dead by an unknown gunman in Albacore Street in Factreton last night (8 June). No arrest has yet been made.

The chairperson of the Factreton Community Policing Forum, Cheslyn Steenberg, says the incident is under investigation.

"The incident is under investigation, so the CPF will not speculate on the matter," says Steenberg.

Police revealed that the victim, Faiek Rhode, was a member of a gang in the community, but his affiliation is unknown. Factreton police spokesperson, Sergeant Angeline Grill says Rhode was shot several times and died from severe injuries to his chest, neck and head.

The reason for his killing is still unknown.

Grill says: “Rhode is a known gangster but his affiliation is unknown. A case of murder is being investigated. There are no leads on the suspect yet.”
