Laugh at school

2017-09-05 06:00

Parents and teachers of Grassy Park EC Primary School are calling on the community to attend a stand-up comedy show hosted by the school this month to raise funds for the equipment needed for much-needed bungalows.

School principal Paul Sassman says the show consists of various acts presented by popular comedians, including Wayne McKay, Shimmy Isaacs, Lindy Johnson, Darren Amos, Carl Weber and Dylan Skews.

“This fundraiser is the initiative of one of our parents. All monies raised at this function will be used towards the replacement of the current wooden bungalows with Nu-Tec structured bungalows. We want to put up two new bungalows for our Grade R learners during the coming holidays,” says Sasman. “We hope to make this happen at a cost of about R130 000 to the school.”

This comedy show can only be a success if the school’s parents and the broader community support it, says Sasman.

“Anybody can come and purchase their tickets at the school on the corner of Victoria Road and Second Avenue.”V The show takes place at the Fireman’s Arms on Wednesday 27 September from 20:00 to 22:00. For more information call the school on 021 705 2713.
