Ward 81 councillor Daniel Christians will host a fishing event at Mnandi Beach for 50 local youths later this year.

The event will take place on Saturday 15 June.

“This is a City of Cape Town event and the participants will be trained for the event. Training sessions for youth of Mitchell’s Plain will take place on the JP rugby field, Rocklands,” says Christians.“Equipment will be supplied and light refreshments will be served. All participants will receive certificates and fishing incentives. Only the first 50 applicants will be able to participate due to budget constraints.”

Training ahead of the event will take place on Saturdays 18 and Saturday 25 May and Wednesday 1 and Wednesday 8 June from 08:00 to 12:00.Enrolment forms will be available at the following venues: Rocklands Civic Centre on Mondays and Tuesdays between 09:00 and 14:00, the Weltevreden Recreation Centre (council yard) on Wednesdays between 09:00 and 14:00 and Fridays between 08:00 and 13:00, or the Portlands Indoor Centre on Thursdays between 09:00 and 14:00.
