A group of proud parents recently received certificates at Perivale Primary School after completing their Wordworks Home School Partnership Programme.

On Saturday 19 March, 26 parents were presented with certificates by school teachers Cheryl Alexander, Carryn Brooks and Zeita Jackson.

The aim of the program is to equip parents with literacy skills allowing them to help their children with their reading and spelling. The parents attended classes for ten consecutive Saturdays.

Stephen Bredenkamp, chairperson of Wynberg Rotary Club, thanked parents for being change agents and having the interest of their children at heart.

Wynberg Rotary Club sponsored the literacy reading pack resource material for the parents required during the course.

Debbie Scott of Bottomup SD, an NPO that runs a literacy enrichment program at Perivale Primary School, encouraged parents to become involved with the school’s program which takes place on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
