Greenpoint resident Iesu Escalante and his YOATL Physical Art Company will be on stage at the 12th annual Baxter Dance Festival this week.

His work With Eyes in the Nape of my Neck will be featured as part of the main programme at the festival until Saturday.

The absorbing duet (performed with Leilah Kirsten) combines elements of dance, physical theatre, experimental acrobatics, circus and unconventional movement in a multidisciplinary stage production. The work explores the absurdity, virtuosity and fantasy in relationships using various movement techniques, objects and space as vehicles.

Ecalante will join other independent dance-makers, choreographers, dancers and teachers who will present a diverse and dynamic line-up, guaranteed to suit all tastes, ranging from contemporary, modern and classical to flamenco, tap and traditional dance forms. This year’s line-up is poised to excite and entertain any dance lover or enthusiast. V Tickets for this year’s festival are available at Computicket. For details of the full programme visit www.baxter.co.za or facebook.com/Baxter.
