Members of the Calvyn Protestant Church held an outreach in Namibia from Monday 21 to Sunday 27 August.
More than 40 members and ministers made the journey to make a difference in the lives of many Namibians.
Together with reverends Christo Present, Deon Jantjies, Michael Osiako and Debbie Fransman, 40 parishioners from Mitchell’s Plain gave food hampers and luxury packets to many Namibians, sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ.
“What a wonderful feeling to observe grateful hearts, smiling faces and, yes, tears flowing from deep inside.
“Fellowship was the essence of the day, enjoying tea with the elderly, listening to their stories, realising how their faith sustained them through difficult times and how a loving God provided their every need.
“It was school holidays; the children enjoyed our presence, embraced the attention and could tell that our president was Jacob Zuma upon hearing that we were from South Africa,” says Fransman.
They also sang and told stories.
“The beauty of these moments was the fact that these little ones loved prayer and prayed without hesitation.
“What an honour to be of service to such a loving, friendly nation. They valued our visits, appreciating our small tokens of kindness,” says Fransman.
