Manenberg police arrested a 21-year-old woman in Aletta Court on Thursday after she was found with 19 mandrax tablets in her vagina.

According to Manenberg police spokesperson, Captain Ian Bennett, the woman was searched and arrested during a crime prevention operation in the area.

“Manenberg police continue their vigorous fight against crime and grime within the policing precinct of Manenberg,” says Bennett.

The crime prevention operation was initiated by the office of the provincial police commissioner and focused on gangs and their illegal activities, including drug selling and illegal firearms and ammunition.

“The community of Manenberg was woken by an early morning crime prevention operation as officers hit the beat before the crack of dawn. The crime prevention operation was conducted under the command of visible policing commander, Colonel Sanele Zama, closely supervised by Manenberg station commander, Brigadier Enolium Joseph,” says Bennett.

He adds that all officers were tasked with specific duties, ensuring that the area was safe.

“We are quite aware of the new school term starting shortly. We cannot allow gangs to control areas where children play and have fun. Brigadier Joseph has vowed to continue these operations throughout the Manenberg precinct, to ensure the safety of all community members and those who work and pass through the area,” Bennett says.

All operational members were tasked and briefed according their specific deployment before taking to the road.

“This early morning operation was successful in sending a clear message out to gangs and their followers that the police will leave no stone unturned in bringing peace and justice to Manenberg,” he adds.

A 30-year-old male was arrested for the possession of 11 sticks of dagga in Hester Court in Heideveld.

A 49-year-old father was arrested for being in possession of a parcel of dagga and his 28-year-old son for being in possession of 24 dagga sticks in Pam Court.
