The first thing in Shiraaj Andrews’ mind, when making music, is always his supporters and that is exactly the idea behind his latest single Toast to the Weekend which he released this year in January.

Andrews (28), from Eastridge, described the song as a feel good one and he hopes everyone can relate to. He said besides being a good vibe song, for him it is another way to inform his supporters that he is still around and he appreciates them.

“This song is basically about celebrating the weekend whichever way you want to or wherever you are – any country or anyhow,” he explained.

The artist, whose stage name is RaajSA, said the song is in preparation of the full album which he hopes to release before the end of the year. According to him, songs for the album have already been written, it is just a matter of getting into the studio and recording them.

The excited muso revealed that the album will be his first and he has had two singles in the past. A video for the current single is available on YouTube.

Andrews said when he writes music he mostly uses his experiences and that makes it easier for people to relate to his music.

“My goal is to make a lot of people hear and feel my side of the interpretation of music. That includes my colleagues and peers to relate to my music,” he said.

He is not signed under any record label and is ready to grab any good deal.

Music is not the only agenda item in his life. The artist revealed when the time is right, he will visit schools in the Mitchell’s Plain region and do motivational talks. He said the plan is to first go to Imperial Primary School and Spine Road High School where he matriculated.

When asked about his source of inspiration or role models when it comes to music, he said there was not a single person he could pinpoint.

“I gain inspiration from an aspect or direction. It could be a TV commercial, a sound or anything. I incorporate those in my music,” he said.

He urged his supporters to support his music by watching his video online. He added that if his song is nominated for any award or competition, people should show support by voting for it.

He invited his fans to follow him on social media platforms so that they can interact with him, see his gig guide or even book him to perform. V Follow him on facebook Shiraaj Andrews or Instagram: braaj_sa
