A local clothing store in Pelican Park has once again been targeted, this almost three months after being robbed by four suspects who made off with money earlier this year (“Clothing store targeted”, People’s Post, 16 January). According to reports, the suspects entered the Pep store, posing as customers, shortly after 13:00 last Saturday.

The suspects pulled out a gun and demanded cash from the workers on duty, the majority of whom were female, before fleeing the scene in their vehicle. Warrant Officer Wynita Kleinsmith from Grassy Park Police Station confirms that no injuries were sustained during the robbery.

“We can also confirm that a case of business robbery was opened and is currently under investigation. It is alleged that six suspects entered the shop with a firearm, threatening the staff. They took cash and fled the scene in a white Toyota Avanza. No arrests have been made as yet and the suspects are unknown.”

The previous robbery in January also saw four suspects making off with a large amount of cash in a white Toyota Avanza, after robbing the store. Kleinsmith says no arrests have been made in the previous case, which is still under investigation, and the suspects are still unknown to police at this stage.

V Anyone with information is urged to call Grassy Park Police Station on 021 700 3900.
