The top junior surfers from all over the country will compete in the BOS Cape Crown from Saturday 11 June to Sunday 12 June at Long Beach in Kommetjie. They will take part in divisions from u.12 to u.18.

The BOS Cape Crown is a Surfing South Africa 3A National Junior Surf Event and the points will go towards selection for the SA Junior Team to represent South Africa at the ISA Junior World Championships later this year.

Many of the Cape’s excellent young local surfers are hoping to use their knowledge of Long Beach to win the title and valuable points for selection. Some of the locals that will compete include Jordy Maree and Max Elkington, current u.17 and u.15 South African National Champions, both from Kommetjie, and they are top seeds in the 2016 South African Junior Team.

Ethan Fletcher, also from Kommetjie, was the 2013 u.15 South African National Champion. The brothers Ford and York van Jaarsveldt, Jake Elkington, Manoa Robb and Eli Beukes – all from Kommetjie – and Luke Slijpen from Llandudno are all South African Championships finalists who are hoping to use their local knowledge to win the title. The u.12 surfer Alex Townsend, also from Kommetjie, is another local that will show his mettle.

Some of the girls competing include Summer Sutton, Julia Ploughman, Sarah Ingram and Anna Jellema-Butler who are all local Long Beach surfers and South African Junior finalists.

The event starts at 08:00 on both days and for more information visit their Facebook page: The BOS Cape Crown.
