Oom Schalk, or David Muller as he’s known off-stage, will be popping in at the Galloway Theatre this week in Oom Schalk from the Heart.

The shows, from tomorrow to Saturday 2 April, are part of David’s national tour with the one-hander tribute to classic storyteller Herman Charles Bosman.

Oom Schalk is the fictitious Groot Marico farmer Bosman used to tell his tales, short and tall.

Having spent many hours sifting through the best of Bosman, David has come up with three different shows.

They have all been critically acclaimed at the National Arts Festival in Grahamstown and have travelled the length and some of the breadth of South Africa.

Leopards, art, hymns, horses, music and brandy make up the new Oom Schalk from the Heart.

As a treat for having so much fun on stage David serves Oom Schalk’s favourite tipple to those in the front row and, as always with his performances, an opening-night audience member stands a chance to win a Bosman anthology.V Oom Schalk from the Heart will be on stage at the Galloway Theatre tomorrow, Thursday and Saturday and then again from Wednesday 30 March to Saturday 2 April. Tickets cost R120 each, R90 for students and R100 for group bookings of five or more.
