Locals to help map out future

2016-01-26 06:00

Noordhoek residents are defining the future of the area.

This as the Noordhoek Ratepayers’ Association is coordinating a process to create a vision for the area for the year 2030.

The organisation is taking to the streets to find out what locals in and around Noordhoek want for their future.

The process will consist of collecting information and ideas in the first week of February.

There will be 22 group discussions during this time, including with communities neighbouring Noordhoek, such as Masiphumelele and Ocean View.

Representatives in branded T-shirts will talk to residents and complete questionnaires. A children’s essay, poetry and art competition will also take place.

After this week, all the information will be analysed to find out the key trends. Based on this, the Ratepayers’ Association will develop a set of short, medium and long-term goals to focus on.

A series of fun community events are also planned.

A quiz night will take place at Monkey Valley on Thursday 4 February. There will be children’s activities at Farm Village on Saturday 6 February and an art exhibition on Sunday 7 February.

A craft beer festival will take place at Red Herring on Saturday 13 February as well as a treasure hunt for children at the Farm Village.

This will be followed by a family picnic at the Noordhoek common on Valentine’s Day.
