It was a walk down memory lane and an evening of gratitude as Where Rainbows Meet Training and Development Foundation (WRM) in Capricorn near Muizenberg celebrated its 10th anniversary.Their birthday celebrations took place at Erin Hall in Rondebosch on Tuesday 27 The programme was jam-packed as the women and youth lit up the stage throughout the evening, The highlight of the show was the heart-warming speech by the director and founder of the organisation, Mymoena Scholtz, which brought tears to many, as she looked back at where it all started and the barriers that the organisation has had to overcome to get to where it is right now. The organisation has grown into a multipurpose training facility which offers different services to socially or economically uplift the community. They offer computer training, a crèche, soccer programmes, aftercare programmes, awareness programmes and a garden project, among other things. During the celebrations they premiered an inspiring video created by local volunteer Benjamin Jankowski, which reviewed the journey of the foundation spanning the past 10 years. Cupido says those who have supported the foundation for the last decade gave thoughtful speeches and shared stories of their journey with Where Rainbows Meet. The foundation’s volunteers and staff also shared their hardships as well as immense gratitude for the people who have supported them over the years. “We do not have an easy job, but the staff serves the community with a smile on their faces every single day. It was with the support of many people that Where Rainbows Meet could celebrate their 10th anniversary. The foundation is looking forward to an even brighter future of improving the lives of the community with the help of their enthusiastic staff and volunteers.
