Male singers celebrate summer

2015-12-01 06:00

The Cape Town Male Voice Choir will be presenting Summer Celebration Concert at Bishops Chapel in Rondebosch on Sunday at 19:00.

The choir will be led by its new musical director Peter Roux in a varied programme of interesting and uplifting choral works spanning different cultures and musical styles, including songs such as “Ukuthula”, “Believe” and “Stout-hearted Men”.

Acclaimed “diva” Aviva Pelham will join the choir for a number of songs (including “Avinu Malkeinu” and “Ose Shalom”), and will perform a number of solos.

Also on the programme will be the Ad Libitum brass and woodwind ensemble, adding further variety.

This year a portion of the income from ticket sales will be donated to the music therapy programme of the Children’s Hospital Trust, that looks after child healthcare at the Red Cross War Memorial Children’s Hospital.

Audience members can bring an unwrapped educational gift for the young hospital patients.

Tickets cost R100 and are available from or by calling 082 500 4748.
