Kensington police are investigating a murder case after a 37-year-old man was killed in a suspected gang-related shooting in Factreton this morning.

The incident took place in Glider Crescent at about 06:00.

It is apparently a second fatal shooting in the area in recent days. “This office can now confirm two murders and two attempted murders within the span of a week,” says local community policing forum spokesperson, Cheslyn Steenberg.

Police say they cannot confirm if it was a gang-related shooting but condemned the incident.

“We strongly condemn the shooting or any shootings and with our learners who have started exams it puts and extra strain on (them) and parents and the community as a whole,” says Kensington police spokesperson, Sgt Angeline Grill. No arrests have yet been made.

Police ask members of the community to contact W/O Stephen Reid on 021 594 7032 or 08600 10111 with any information related to the incident.

Meanwhile, the CPF has vowed to fight shootings to protect the local residents.

“We need to take back power from these so-called gangs,” says Steenberg.
