Police have arrested a 33-year-old Tafelsig man found in possession of high calibre ammunition.

On Saturday 19 November, Mitchell’s Plain police were doing routine patrols in Tafelberg Street, Tafelsig when they noticed a group of men standing in the street. As officers approached the men attempted to flee.

Officers pursued the suspects on foot and saw one of the men running into a Wendy house where he hid a plastic bag underneath a bed.

The suspect was apprehended inside the Wendy house and the officers discovered 42 shotgun shells and an empty 9mm magazine inside the plastic bag.

The suspect was arrested and has appeared in court on a charge of illegal possession of ammunition.
