A 23-year-old man of De Waal Court in Lavender Hill died on the scene after being shot five times last Thursday.

Warren Johannes was shot in the left upper part of his body.

Steenberg police spokesperson Warrant Officer John Bartlett says Steenberg police were busy with patrols in Lavender Hill when they were stopped by community members informing them that someone had been shot in De Waal Court.

“Officers rushed to the scene and they found a man lying on his face in a pool of blood.

“There were 12 cartridges and one fragment of a bullet was retrieved on the scene.

“The motive for the killing is allegedly gang-related.

“No-one has been arrested as yet.

“Steenberg police have opened a case of murder and the investigation continues,” he says.
