The body of a 34-year-old man has been discovered at the GF Jooste building site in Manenberg.

According to a report from Manenberg police, the man and his friend were on the building site during the night on Wednesday 15 March. Police spokesperson Captain Ian Bennett says the men were searching for scrap metal to sell when they heard voices and then a gunshot.

Bennett says the friend ran away leaving the victim behind and returned to the site today (Thursday 16 March) when he discovered his friend had not returned home.

Bennett says the body of the 34-year-old man was found with a single gunshot wound in the head.

Police are now appealing for information and urge anyone who knows what transpired to call Manenberg Police Station on 021 699 9400 or Crime Stop on 08600 10111.
