A 29-year-old Manenberg man has died after being stabbed during an argument in Thames Avenue.

Police spokesperson, Captain Ian Bennett, says on Saturday (11 February)  at 06:20 police were called to Heideveld Emergency Centre as doctors tried to save the man who had been stabbed in the chest.

The man was declared dead at the hospital and Bennett says the investigation led officers to a Manenberg home.

Here, he says, officers established that the assailant was a 38-year-old member of the Americans gang and arrested him.

“Both men are members of the Americans gang and it was discovered that the 38-year-old man stabbed the victim in the chest during an argument. It is unclear what the argument was about, but the suspect is due to appear in the Athlone Magistrate’s Court on a murder charge soon,” he says.

Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to call Manenberg Police Station on 021 699 9400 or Crime Stop 08600 10111.
