City of Cape Town Mayor Dan Plato paid a visit to mobile customer relations unit in Heideveld on Thursday 7 March.

The initiative, which has been running for the last 11 months, sees the City offer a basket of services while dealing with municipal issues such as service delivery, rates, and other municipal matters face to face, without having to travel to the city.

Plato states that the City is working hard to provide residents with the best service delivery. The mobile office visits areas where communities are far from municipal facilities such as cash offices, housing offices or subcouncil offices.

“As a city, we try our utmost to give communities responsive service delivery. The mobile office means those who find it difficult to reach our offices can have the city staff come to them.

“It is so important that residents are able to rapidly resolve their queries on municipal matters and get peace of mind,” says Plato.

His visit follows a recent stop at the City’s call centre to see the work being done there (“Heeding the call action”, People’s Post, 22 January.) and says he it is very important for residents to have assistance in accessing City services.

Ward 44 councillor Anthony Moses welcomed Plato’s visit, saying residents came out in their numbers to raise concerns.

“This initiative, bringing the service disclosure to the community, so that they can see that we are serious about delivering to their needs. The visit of the mayor shows the commitment of the mayor to address the concerns of the residents of Heideveld.”
