Meet an Olympic hero at CT Marathon

2016-09-13 06:00

Organisers have confirmed another world-class weekend line-up for the annual Sanlam Cape Town Marathon Expo.

The weekend road running festival will again be highlighted by the 42.2km contest in the Mother City on Sunday 18 September.

A host of activities are planned for the weekend, one of them being the opportunity to meet a South African Olympic legend, Josia Thugwane.

Thugwane famously won the gold medal in the men’s marathon at the 1996 Atlanta Summer Games. He will be available for a meet and greet opportunity at the Cape Town Stadium’s forecourt on Saturday 17 September before the commencement of the fun run.

Forming a key part of an ongoing drive to promote and encourage change, Sanlam Cape Town Marathon organisers have called on runners and spectators to take up a pledge and Run4Change at the 2016 edition of the annual contest.

The Run4Change provides the platform everyone to show their support by making a significant and positive impact on society. By donating a minimum of R35, everyone who takes the pledge will receive a set of Sanlam Cape Town Marathon Run4Change laces and a pledge sticker to post a message on the Pledge Wall. Visit
