Strandfontein Mets proved too strong for bottom-of-the-table Avendale in a Cape Town Softball Association major league clash on Saturday, winning 12-4.

Both teams recorded nine hits in the game but Avendale left nine runners stranded on the bases.

Samantha Fortune of Mets faced 27 batters with five strikeouts and three earned runs with her opponent, Tiana Tobin, striking out seven batters.
The double-header weekend dished up some exciting softball with Lavender Hill maintaining its unbeaten record in the major league. So far the Hill has conceded only one run after seven games.

Glenthorn A’s pulled out the magic in the bottom of the fifth inning against Westridge Yankees in a super league clash on Sunday to remain unbeaten.

Deidré Sasman topped the batting for A’s with 2-3.
The game was highlighted by an out at home plate of Lynn Lekay. Her long hit to centre field involved four defensive players (Tammy Golding, Glynnis Koopman, Nuraan Williams and Sasha Philander) for the eventual out.

Lisa Erasmus pitched for Glenthorn (25 batters faced, one hit and three strikeouts) while Megan Cable pitched for Yankees (26 batters faced, six hits and four strikeouts).
