Plumstead residents were robbed at gunpoint by three man when they stopped at a stop sighn on Cannon Road on Tuesday 24 May.

It is alleged that at about 01:45 two residents were on their way home when they stopped their car in Cannon Road under the bridge at the stop street behind a Mercedes-Benz.

The Mercedes stopped in the middle of the intersection and three men jumped out and ran to the residents in the car and pointed a firearm at the driver’s head.

The suspects threatened to shoot the driver and the passenger if they did not cooperate.

The suspects spoke broken Afrikaans and used a lot of “gangster slang”, says Diep River police spokesperson Keith Chandler.

The suspects searched the complainants and stole cash, cell phones, tablet and the radio face. No shots were fired and the complainants were not injured.

A case of armed robbery was opened and is being investigated by Diep River police.
