Two men have been arrested in connection with the robbery of nine hikers on St James Peak in Kalk Bay.

The incident took place on 13 January. Five hikers were allegedly stabbed by the suspects.

Muizenberg police spokesperson Captain Stephen Knapp confirmed the arrests, saying two Masiphumelele residents were arrested on Sunday on charges of robbery with a weapon.

They appeared in court yesterday (Tuesday 13 February).

“Following the release of two ID kits compiled by SAPS, two suspects were arrested in connection with the robbery on the Kalk Bay mountain hiking trail,” says Knapp. The two suspects, aged 19 and 32, are still in custody.
