Museum reaches out

The Simon’s Town Museum is hosting two outreach programmes in December and hopes local residents will support both. The one programme is to assist the Tygerbear Clinic with teddy bears and the other to assist HIV/Aids orphans.

To celebrate World Aids Day on Saturday 1 December, the museum’s annual initiative is called the Knit-a-Jersey Campaign.

“We started the project in 2007 and through the years it was well supported,” says the museum’s education officer, Tazneem Wentzel. They hope this year’s support will be even better than the previous years’. They will be on a drive for knitwear and soft toys and the collection deadline is Monday 10 December.

.A Christmas concert by Bella Poetica as a culmination of 16 Days of Activism Against Women and Child Abuse will be hosted on Sunday 16 December at 14:30 for 15:00 at the museum. The tickets are R80 and R50 for pensioners. All proceeds will go to the Tygerbear Clinic. Contact Tazneem on 021 786 3046 or at education@simonstownmuseum.co.za.
