Liberty Promenade in Mitchell’s Plain will host its annual Next Generation Musical Showcase on Saturday 24 August from 12:00 until 15:00.

Learners from surrounding schools will have the opportunity to represent their school in an inspiring musical show on stage.

The showcase has a different theme every year and this year it is “Save the Earth”.

Learners will sing and dance in the name of caring for the environment, their surroundings and the planet.

The top-performing schools will win their share of R60 000 and teachers and learners from the top-performing schools will also win fantastic prizes.

Fifteen to 20 schools are expected to compete at the mall. The musical performances are all written, performed and choreographed by the participating schools.

Brenda Bibby, Liberty Promenade’s general manager, says there is so much talent in Mitchell’s Plain.

“Liberty Promenade takes pride in providing a platform for the kids to show off their creativity and skill.

“The learners from participating schools spend weeks perfecting their performances and each year they outdo themselves as they educate, entertain and inspire their audience,” says Bibby.

Brian Unsted, Liberty Two Degrees’ asset management executive of Liberty Promenade, says with this year’s theme, the youth of Mitchell’s Plain are encouraged to learn about and teach others about sustainability for the betterment of both the community and the environment.
