New look for Vredehoek Library

2016-05-24 06:00

The Vredehoek Library will be closed until Sunday 3 July for maintenance.

The library’s maintenance project will include painting – inside and outside – new flooring, installation of a roof overhang in front of the entrance, the refitting of staff areas and the remodelling of the library downstairs, including carpets and painting. Perimeter fencing will also be installed, says Belinda Walker, Mayco member for community services and special projects.

The project is estimated to cost just under R200 000.

“Libraries undergo maintenance in a planned cycle where specific libraries are targeted for maintenance to keep the building in a good condition as well as bring about any changes that will improve the layout of the library,” Walker says.

“The library will still accept any returned materials. Library users are encouraged to use neighbouring libraries to return and take out library materials.”

Neighbouring libraries include Kloof Street Library, Central Library, Camps Bay Library and Sea Point Library.
