Strandfontein Police Station has four new women constables patrolling the streets.

The women started their police careers on Friday and are ready to serve the community.

Mitchell’s Plain cluster commander Major-General Abraham Goss assigned the constables to the station commander for active duty in the policing precinct.

Goss has wished them well in their endeavour to be of service to the residents of Strandfontein.

Strandfontein station commander Captain David Malong welcomed the four constables to his team of crime fighters.

They were appointed as full constables during the passing out parade held at the South African Police Academy in Philippi in December last year.

They come from different parts of the province. They are driven by their passion to work with people.

Strandfontein Community Policing Forum chairperson Sandy Schuter has also welcomed the constables.

“It is a step in the right direction as there was indeed a need for female constables to be of service to females who often fall victim to crime. Most females who fall victim to crime feel more comfortable in being assisted by female police officials,” she says.
