No arrests after shootings

On Friday 15 April at about 20:30 Steenberg police responded to a shooting incident at Komlosy Street, Retreat.

Police were informed that the occupants of a white VW Jetta and a black VW Polo fired several shots at a house. Sixteen cartridges were found at the scene and bullet holes were discovered in the front wall, window and door. No arrests have been made and a case of attempted murder was opened for investigation.

On Sunday 17 April at about 19:25 police responded to a shooting incident at St Albert Street, Montague Village. It is alleged that the 11-year-old victim was standing at a shop when the suspect pulled out a firearm and fired one shot at him. The victim ran away and the suspect fired about six more shots at him, however the boy escaped. It is alleged that the suspect is a member of the Fast Guns gang. The motive for the shooting is unknown. No arrests have been made and Steenberg police are investigating a case of attempted murder.

Later that day at about 21:57 members of Steenberg police responded to a shooting at Retreat Day Hospital. It is alleged that the 50-year-old victim was driving his car on the corner of Chopin and Blagden Street when an unknown person fired a shot at his car. The bullet penetrated the driver’s side door and went through both the victim’s legs.

While he was on his way to the day hospital, more shots were fired at him. Three bullet holes were detected in his car’s driver side door.

The suspects and the motive for the shooting are unknown at this stage. No arrests have been made and a case of attempted murder has been opened.
