NSRI to the rescue – of a tumble dryer

2017-08-15 06:02

Members of a local National Sea Rescue Institute (NSRI) crew helped fight a fire in an unusual vessel – a tumble dryer.

The Kommetjie NSRI crew was called out to a fire on Wednesday evening.

But instead of launching their boat to rush to assistance, they took their mobile fire trailer to the laundromat at the Shell garage in Kommetjie.

NSRI Kommetjie station commander Ian Klopper says on arrival at the scene, the crew found a tumble dryer in the laundromat alight. They doused the flames and the area was made safe after the arrival of the fire department.

“Cape Town Fire and Rescue Services, the police and Cape Medical Response responded [too].”
