Ocean View learners are representing their province in cycling.
Six pupils have been selected to Western Province and will be travelling Bloemfontein during the school holidays for their next event.
Ocean View Secondary has entered learners for the Cape Town Cycling Tour for the past twenty years. When learners showed potential and were still in cycling mode, their coach, Abduraghiem de Klerk, decided to enter them in the Western Province schools’ league.
The six learners were selected to represent Western Province in Oudtshoorn during the past school holidays. All of the boys finished in the top ten of their age group, despite cycling on bikes which are either outdated or in urgent need of an upgrade.
The school is currently looking for donations to assist he leaners to cover travelling costs and upgrade the bikes.
