In a bid to address recent flare-ups in gang tensions and to remain visible, Lentegeur police held a multidisciplinary-focused operation in the precinct on Saturday 9 February.

The operation included officers attached to the Police Anti-Gang Unit, Operation Thunder, Lentegeur Crime Prevention Unit and a civilian component consisting of the local Community Policing Forum and neighbourhood watch safety volunteers.

“The operation focused on stabilising and addressing the gang violence and normalising the Lentegeur area. The operation was executed from 14:00 until 20:30. Several vehicle and foot patrols were conducted within the Lentegeur policing precinct where hotspot areas were identified and targeted by the operational members attached to this operation. Fifty-one houses and three vehicles were searched during the operation,” said police spokesperson, Sergeant Jerome Voegt.

A total of four arrests were made in unrelated cases during the operation.

“The suspects were arrested for possession of drugs in Woodlands and Lentergeur. The suspects are aged between 20 and 37,” said Voegt.
