The Mitchell’s Plain Network Opposing Abuse, based in Beacon Valley, held its Women’s Day Programme on Tuesday 13 August. Maria Marthinus, administrator for the organisation, said the day was aimed at bringing women together who are going through difficult times. “We handpicked a group of men and women to enjoy the day and relax with us,” she said. According to Marthinus, those who attended the programme were selected from the support group who meets weekly. Bronwyn Kilroe, known as “Cape Town’s laughter coach”, presented a laughter session. “We wanted to give them a day to remember,” said Marthinus.
