The winners of the People’s Post Spec Savers Community Champions Elders Awards were announced at a special high tea event at Moyo in Kirstenbosch National Botanical Garden on Saturday. The event was attended by the seven finalists, their family and friends, sponsors and the award’s judges.

In the 70-80 years category Georgina Mouwers from Mitchell’s Plain was crowned the winner, with Roland Wagner from Lotus River in second place and Alice Fisher from Manenberg coming in third.

Vincent Carelse from Lotus River was announced the winner in the 80-plus category, with James Poggenpoel from Lansdowne and Aldra Williams from Northpine in second and third place respectively.

Mary Honeybon from Noordhoek was the winner of the People’s Choice Award after receiving 160 nominations.
