‘Pawry’ event returns

2019-03-05 06:00

The Sea Point Promenade will soon see more than 300 dogs take part in this year’s fourth annual Paws on the Promenade on Sunday 17 March.

This dog walk fundraiser aims to raise funds for the Mdzananda Animal Clinic in Khayelitsha.

Members of the public are invited to bring their furry friends and join in on the fun and strut their stuff along the beautiful scenic route of the Sea Point Promenade.

The 5km walk will start at the Mouille Point Lighthouse at 9:00.

The route will extend to the Sea Point swimming pool and there will be shorter turnaround points for old, tired and injured pets.

“Our 2018 Paws on the Promenade was a great success with an attendance of 300 dogs and 464 humans. On a budget of just R1685 we were able to raise a total of R29 000 in profit.

“We hope to raise even more funds with this year’s event, but it all depends on how many wonderful dogs and humans join us for the walk,” said Fundraising and Communications Manager Marcelle du Plessis.

Individuals with no four-legged friends are also invited to join and adopt a stray dog for the day.

Those who plan to adopt a dog for the day can book via email on infor@mdzananda.co.za.

The first 200 dogs to arrive will receive a goodie bag.

Tickets to this ‘pawry’ event cost R50 for adults, R50 per dog and R25 for kids under 12.

Tickets are available on Quicket (www.qkt.io/pawsonprom2019).

Vondi’s shop on Regent Road will also sell tickets on the morning of the event.V For more information visit www.mdzananda.co.za or join our facebook event at https://www.facebook.com/events/248063799405464
