In honour of the school’s top achievers, Pelican Park Primary School hosted an awards evening on Tuesday last week.

The event saw hundreds of parents invited to witness their children receiving awards.

Five awards were handed out to each class.

These awards were for the overall top learner, who excelled throughout the three terms, second and third place in the class and then also the most improved learner and the best reader.

The reading award cements the school’s stance on reading, as the school management believes even in a digital world, books and reading remain important.

A total of 130 learners were awarded on the evening.

There are 24 classes with 865 children attending the school.

Of them, the overall top student was Chelsy Kleinsmith from Grade 7A.

The school also celebrated some of its achievements, including the building of seven new classrooms they hope to take occupation of soon.
