LETTER: Pensioners beware

2016-04-19 06:00

On the Good Friday I received a call from a woman asking if I receive a grant or pension. I said no but my husband gets pension. She then asked for my husband’s ID number. When I asked why she said she is calling from Sassa and they are doing upgrades. My husband then told her that he doesn’t give out his details to anyone. She then said that if that’s the case his pension won’t be available. He told her that in that case seeing that it’s Easter weekend he will go to the Sassa offices on the Tuesday and low and behold she slammed down the phone.

We heard a friend of ours got the same call and he was short of R400 on his pension.
