Police confiscate weapons in Lavender Hill

Steenberg police’s crime prevention unit (CPU) arrested a 29-year-old suspect for possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition in St Bonniface Street, Lavender Hill, on Thursday 28 November at 21:40.

Police were busy with stop and search operations when they spotted the man coming from the shacks. They immediately pursued and caught him. The suspect appeared in the Wynberg Magistrate’s Court on Monday 2 December.

In an unrelated matter, Steenberg police’s CPU arrested a 22-year-old man in Sheperd Court on Friday 29 November at 19:30. They responded to a complaint of a shooting in Lavender Hill. The police spotted the suspect and gave chase. Soon they apprehended the man with a 9mm pistol in his possession.
