Three men were arrested in connection with possession charges at the weekend.

A 26-year-old man was arrested by Mitchell’s Plain police reservists on Saturday at 22:36. The officers were on crime prevention duty when they saw the suspect running over the roofs of houses in Rocklands.

While he was running, he threw an object away. Police officers later identified it as a zip gun which had been thrown into a yard.

Also on Saturday at 07:45, police were carrying out patrols in 4th Avenue, Eastridge when they received information of a stollen car in the area.

The two occupants ran when they saw police approaching the white Nissan Bakkie. Officers gave chase and caught a 23-year-old man.

The other is still on the run.

The car was reported stolen in Bothasig.

Police also recovered stolen police property in Gazelle Street, Eastridge on Friday at 06:30.

Mitchell’s Plain detectives were busy executing warrants of arrest, when they searched an identified suspect and found two rounds of ammunition in his pocket as well as a police stamp.

The 29-year-old man was arrested.
