Police get gun and drugs off streets

Police arrested a Beacon Valley man for drug possession on Saturday 2 November at 21:15.

Officers attached to the Mitchell’s Plain crime prevention unit were doing crime prevention duties in Kennetjie Street when they searched a house.

Police found 130 units of heroin, three whole and five half mandrax tablets and two packets of tik in a plastic bag in the bedroom.

Police arrested a 35-year-old man.

. In an unrelated incident on Friday 1 November at 18:30, Mitchell’s Plain crime prevention unit officers were on patrol in Boeing Street, Rocklands.

Officers stopped and searched a suspicious man and found a Star pistol with a magazine and one 9mm live round in his possession.

Police arrested the 22-year-old man.

In the same street, officers also arrested several other suspects who were caught smoking drugs in the street.
