Manenberg police are urging the public to be on the lookout for two men which could provide more information regarding the murder of Clinton Williamson.

Police want to bring Riedwaan Poleman and Anthony Bennett, also known as Adiel Bennett, of the Manenberg area in for questioning in connection with the killing of 24-year-old Williamson who was shot dead in the early hours of Friday 29 July.

“It is alleged that the 24-year-old [Williamson] was standing with a friend outside Hilda Court when the shooting started,” states Captain Ian Bennett, Manenberg police’s spokesperson.

Police established that a lone gunman had come across the field and started shooting at Williamson and his friend as they stood outside the flat. Williamson then ran up to the top floor as he was being followed by the suspect. Williamson was cornered and a single shot fired at him hit him in the head, killing him instantly.

The perpetrators fled the scene on foot.

A case of murder was opened for investigation. Initially a 27-year-old woman, Lakan Lakay, was arrested. She is still in custody as the investigation continues. The names of Bennett and Poleman came up in the investigation led by detective Sergeant Craig Keating in relation Williamson’s murder. According to Bennett, the police have not been able to track down the two.

V Anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of the two men can call Manenberg police on 021 699 9400 or CrimeStop on 0860 010 111.
