Police nab 3 for drugs

Three men have appeared in the Wyberg Magistrate’s Court on drug possesion charges.

A 30-year-old was arrested with 42 sticks of dagga by the Mitchell’s Plain tactical response team. During patrols in Komlosy Street, Cafda, on Tuesday 24 May the suspect dropped a plastic bag after seeing the police car and was subsequently arrested.

While the tactical response team were busy with patrols in Walton Road, Cafda, they observed a suspect leaving a well-known drug outlet. They searched him and found one bank packet of dagga. The 27-year-old was arrested.

Later that evening Steenberg police officers were patrolling with Law Enforcement officers in Choir Street, Steenberg. They saw a suspect avoiding the police, who threw a packet away. The officers caught the suspect and found two parcels with 20 small packets of drugs. The 19-year-old suspect of Lavender Hill was arrested.

On the same day in another incident, Operation Combat officers received information of firearms and ammunition at a house in 12th Avenue, Retreat. They found three R5 magazines with no ammunition, 45mm rounds of ammunition (46) and silver foiled paper containing a glass object with different wires, believed to be an explosive detonator.

It is alleged the items were kept for members of the Hard Livings gang. The 30-year-old was arrested.
