Police officer stops mall robbers in their tracks

Kirstenhof police are advancing an investigation to track the remaining suspects linked to an armed robbery at a mall in Tokai yesterday, Monday 19 August.

A vigilant police officer foiled the robbery Blue Route Mall when he observed the incident.

"He gave chase. Shots were fired but no injuries were reported,” said provincial police spokesperson Sergeant  Noloyiso Rwexana.

According to available information, five suspects - two armed - were seen robbing a jewellery shop, Winhall & de Stadler, located in the mall. 

Two men, aged 24 and 28, were arrested following the chase.

Three suspects fled the scene.

Once charged, the suspects will appear in the Wynberg magistrates’ court.
