Police operations yield arrests

2018-05-29 06:00

The past week saw Kensington police conduct three successful crime operations.

The detective branch’s two suspect-tracing operations netted six suspects for various crimes, says police spokesperson, Sergeant Angeline Grill. A separate operation that targeted illegal shebeens in the area resulted in liquor being confiscated and a suspect arrested.

Police also arrested two outstanding suspects, one for attempted murder, and a repeat offender who was recently released from jail, for housebreaking and theft.

Six more suspects were arrested for assault and another six for theft while a suspect was nabbed for malicious damage to property. Grill says two more suspects were arrested on drug-related charges.

Station commander, Lieutenant-Colonel Fanie Scanlen, praised the members for their hard work. The police encourage the community to work with the police by reporting crime.V Call Kensington police on 021 594 7026 or Crime Stop on 08600 10111.
