Muizenberg police arrested a 54-year-old man from Overcome Heights on Wednesday 27 July on a charge of possession of narcotics.

Police under the command of Lieutenant-Colonel Deidré Engelbrecht were on foot patrol in the area when they were approached by a resident who informed them of possible drug dealing at a residence in 7th Avenue.

Muizenberg police spokesperson Captain Stephen Knapp says members proceeded to the premises and after a thorough search of the house, they came upon 201 sticks of dagga and a bigger parcel of dagga.

“A 54-year-old male suspect was arrested at the scene and charged with possession of narcotics.

Another drug-related arrest was made on Thursday 28 July at about 08:45 when the Public Order Policing unit (POP) were doing patrols in the Vrygrond area. They noticed a suspicious man in Trevor Siljeur Road, say Knapp. “The suspect attempted to evade the police and entered a nearby residence. The officers gave chase and managed to apprehend the suspect, who was searched and found to be in possession of 157 mandrax tablets. The 48-year-old male was arrested and detained at Muizenberg police on charges of possession of narcotics.”

V Anybody with information is asked to contact the Muizenberg police on 021 787 9000. All information will be treated with the strictest confidence.
