Swift action by police led to the arrest of robbers on Friday at 05:00.

Passengers in a taxi on the way to Town Centre were apparently robbed at the corner of Spine and Weltevreden roads, Rocklands.

At the intersection, three men posing as passengers stopped the taxi and jumped inside. As the driver was about to drive off, the one pulled out a firearm and pointed it at the driver.

They then started to search the passengers and driver, before running away. The robbers made off with two cellphones, a driver’s licence and bank cards as well as R600 in cash.

Mitchell’s Plain police made enquiries in the area and managed to track down the suspects. Police arrested men aged 26 and 36.

In an unrelated incident, police were busy with an operation in Atletiek Street, Beacon Valley at 11:00 when they searched a house and found 33 stoppe dagga, 41 packets dagga, three whole mandrax tablets, 11 half mandrax tablets and R220 cash.

Police arrested 13 people at the house for drug dealing.
