Police search for burglars

Diep River police are investigating a case of house robbery after a couple were confronted by two knife-weilding man at their home in Plumstead.

It is alleged that on Friday 27 May the suspects apparently jumped over the back wall and entered the house through the kitchen door.

The couple were forced into the bedroom where they were tied up and threatened that they would be harmed if they made a sound.

Their home was then ransacked by the suspects who stole cash, laptops, cellphones and other items.

The suspects fled the same way they entered.

Diep River police and forensics were on the scene and neighbourhood watches combed the area searching for the suspects in the Buckingham Road area, but to no avail.

In a separate incident the next morning a Constantia resident let her dogs out the back door at 06:30, and as she walked inside to make tea, three unknown men entered her house. One of them took out pepper spray and sprayed the resident in the face.

Her husband came to her aid but was forced back by the suspects who then proceeded to ransack the house, taking with them a number of items including laptops, cellphones and cash.

The suspects also took the residents’ keys and a white VW Polo Vivo and silver Mercedes-Benz.

Neighbourhood watches searched the area around Hillcrest Road for the suspects but their search was fruitless.

Diep River police have opened a case of house robbery and theft of motor vehicle and are appealing to the public to assist with any information on these crimes.
