Provincial detectives seized cocaine with an estimated street value of R 2.8m today (Thursday 6 April).

Provincial police spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Andrè Traut says detectives are investigating the circumstances surrounding the discovery of a significant quantity of cocaine.

“Earlier today police were summoned to a container depot in Maitland where cleaning staff came across seven blocks of cocaine with a combined weight of 7kg in a side panel of an empty container which arrived in Table Bay Harbour recently. Our investigation will focus on the origin of the drugs and the whether it was destined for our shores,” he says.
