The City of Cape Town has announced that R350 000 was spent during their hosting of the Bayhill Premier Cup which took place at Erica Park in Belhar from Wednesday 17 to Monday 22 April.

The event, which first took place at the JP Rocklands Sports Ground in Mitchell’s Plain, is now regarded as the perfect stage for talent scouts, managers and administrators to discover the next generation of soccer stars.

The City’s recreation and parks department contributed services to the value of R350 000 which included the playing fields, transport for teams, electricity and audio-visual equipment.

“I would like to extend my gratitude to the event organisers who once again created a perfect scene where young talent could play the beautiful game and diverse communities could be brought together through sport. The event strengthens the partnership between the City, the organisers and our communities and is a great example of what can be achieved when we all work together,” says Mayco member for community services and health Zahid Badroodien.
